I.
List of Fire protection technician duties:
- Participate in required emergency response drills as required.
- Responsible for performing Fire Watch Tours in addition to performing normal daily activities of the Fire Protection Department.
- Participate in annual fire protection offsite training.
- Understand and adhere to Cook Nuclear Plant procedures and policies.
- Perform Fire Watch related tasks as assigned.
- Conduct Fire Protection Equipment Impairment Reviews to determine potential scheduling conflicts, appropriate isolation boundaries and compensatory requirements.
- Computer input and data manipulation will be required.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by proper authority.
II.
List of Fire protection technician qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must posses a valid driver’s license and meet all Insurance Carrier requirements.
- Strong understanding of Non-water based Suppression Systems materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance and inspection process, plus working knowledge of NFPA Standards required.
- Experience with kitchen hood suppression system installation especially important.
- Must possess physical stamina and ability to perform laborious and strenuous work for extended hours, including overtime up to 25 hours per week, if necessary.
- Good communication, training, and planning skills required.
- Sense of pride, integrity, and organizational ability required.
- Must enjoy working independently and with others.
- Willingness to learn other fire protection disciplines including but not limited to fire alarms and fire sprinkler systems.
As a fire protection technician, you protect life and property through fire prevention efforts and, if necessary, by proper firefighting principles and techniques.
