I. List of Fire technician duties:


  1. Inspects, repairs, and tests fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices.
  2. Dismantles extinguishers and examines mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.
  3. Cleans extinguishers and recharges them with approved materials.
  4. Inspects, tests, and repairs systems such as smoke detectors, sprinklers, and dry stand pipe systems, and pull systems.

  1. Assists in fire safety inspection.
  2. Maintain fire extinguishers property wide in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  3. Participate in promoting a culture of safety through participation in morning and monthly safety meetings.

II. List of Fire technician qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid Driver’s License
  3. State of Alaska Class III Fire Extinguisher Permit
  4. Ability to lift and carry 60 Ibs periodically on a daily basis.
  5. Willingness to obtain and maintain State of Alaska Fire Systems Certifications for Alarms (IB), Sprinklers (IIB) and Special Hazards (IIIB).
  6. Knowledge of inspection, repair, maintenance, and testing techniques for fire safety equipment and systems.
  7. Skill in the inspection, repair, maintenance, and testing techniques for fire safety equipment and systems.
